A car went up in flames right next to an East Redding elementary school. At around 9:30AM Tuesday morning Redding Firefighters and police were called to Mistletoe School. A car was fully engulfed in flames just outside the rear fence. Apparently the driver had caused a ruckus at Grocery Outlet on Churn Creek Road before driving through a field and becoming stuck next to a small creek beside the schoolyard. The car’s tires kept spinning and heating up until it caused a fire that spread to the engine and the rest of the car. Officers said the car was not stolen and it’s not known where the driver was trying to go or what he had in mind. He was taken for a possible 51-50 evaluation.
