James Benno was a vocal medical marijuana activist prior to his arrest. On Monday, 4 years later, Benno and his two sons walked out of a Shasta County courtroom with their potentially landmark case dismissed. The 52-year-old Happy Valley man was arrested in May of 2014 with what the sheriff’s office said was 101 plants and concentrated cannabis made for juvenile cancer patients. After being acquitted on 15 counts last year, the felony count of manufacturing concentrated cannabis was dismissed Monday.
