Shasta Lake City Manager Announces Retirement

A good city manager can be hard to find. The City of Shasta Lake will be searching far and wide for a qualified candidate after the announcement that John Duckett intends to retire this summer. His last day will be July 27th. Duckett started his career with the city as an accountant in 1993, and took over as city manager following the retirement of Carol Martin in 2012. During his management, Duckett oversaw the development and funding of the new city hall, currently under construction with completion expected in July. Duckett also worked to dismantle the former redevelopment agency, managed the city’s extensive water issues during the drought, and helped develop the city’s cannabis regulations. Duckett is 56-years-old and plans on spending more time with his family.
