Siskiyou County Water Treatments Operators Lose Licenses

Water treatment operators in Dunsmuir and McCloud have lost their licenses after failing to report high bacteria levels in drinking water, according to the State Water Board. Ronald Larue of Dunsmuir and Wayne Grigsby of McCloud entered no contest pleas in Siskiyou County to one misdemeanor count each of making a false statement or representation as part of the health and safety code. Larue and Grigsby will avoid jail time, but they can never again operate public drinking water systems in California. The criminal charges were brought by the Siskiyou County D.A.’s Office after a water board investigation showed that on multiple occasions from March of 2012 to September of 2015, water system employees in Dunsmuir and McCloud failed to report bacteriological water samples with positive findings. A water board official called it “A clear breach of public trust where the public was recklessly exposed to bacteria”.
