Tehama County Reports No Injuries Or Fires Over Holiday

No news was good news on the 4th of July for the Tehama-Glenn Unit of Cal-Fire. So-called “Safe and Sane” fireworks are legal south of the Shasta County line, and in previous years Independence Day has proven difficult for firefighters chasing down blazes sparked by both legal and legal fireworks. This year was an exception, with no fireworks-related injuries or fires reported despite hot and windy conditions. Cal-Fire an Tehama County Fire officials give credit to their own extensive patrols and public awareness campaign. They caution, however, that in the past there have been a lot of fires caused after Independence Day by children lighting off leftover fireworks that have been improperly stored.
