Deputies Seek Driver After High Speed Chase To Shasta Dam

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a man they say ran from their deputies. Just after 1:30PM Sunday afternoon a Shasta Lake Deputy tried to stop a Mitsubishi Eclipse for a traffic violation on Shasta Dam Boulevard at Median Avenue. The driver took off at high speed and led a chase westbound driving recklessly and disregarding the safety of the public. The driver continued all the way past Lake Boulevard and onto the road to the dam. When he reached the Shasta Dam Visitors Center, a deputy deployed a spike strip that worked just right and popped all four tires. Regardless, the driver continued to drive all the way to the Centimudi Boat Ramp, and he then fled on foot. Despite an extensive search by deputies and a CHP helicopter, the man was not found, but a driver’s license was found in the car belonging to 42-year-old Clifford Bowers.
