A grand procession of fire apparatus will travel from Redding to Red Bluff on Thursday to honor the late beloved Redding Fire Chief Gerry Gray. The popular Chief died at the age of 54 a week ago. Monday evening from 5PM to 8PM a public viewing will take place at Hoyt-Cole Chapel Of The Flowers on Walnut Street in Red Bluff. On Thursday Redding Fire engines and trucks will lead a line that will include vehicles from a number of other fire agencies. They’ll arrive at the High Point Assembly Of God on Luther Road in Red Bluff in time for the memorial service at 1 O’clock. Chief Gray was well liked and respected by his colleagues, as well as the public, as he set a great example among public officials for his communications skills, his accessibility and his overwhelming kindness and optimism. Many people wish to honor Chief Gray and it’s suggested that, instead of sending flowers, donations may be made to the “Gerry Gray Memorial Account”, which will be used to assist students with firefighter academy tuition. The account is set up at the Cornerstone Community Bank on South Main Street in Red Bluff and East Cypress Avenue in Redding.
