Coroner ID’s Man Who Died During The Klamathon Fire

The Siskiyou County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man whose body was found in a heavily fire damaged building in the Hornbrook area on July 6th. 72-year-old John Karl Bermel of Hornbrook was found inside the burned out building about 5:30AM on July 6th, the day after the deadly Klamathon Fire was sparked in Northern Siskiyou County. An autopsy was done and it concluded that Bermel’s injuries were consistent with a fire-related death, but the cause of death is pending toxicology results. As of Thursday, the fire has burned through 36,500 acres, destroyed 82 buildings, damaged 12 buildings, and is threatening 315 structures.
