Crews Contain Fire Near Victor And Cypress

A vegetation fire in East Redding didn’t cover a lot of land, but it put up a very large and ominously dark column of smoke. At around 8:30PM Wednesday night the fire broke out off the northeast corner of Victor and Cypress Avenue. It burned some large pine and fir trees, accounting for the thick, dark smoke. Victor Avenue was closed north of the intersection while the fire was being fought. The fire was contained to only about an acre. A homeless camp is suspected as the cause, but that’s not been confirmed.
