Procession Will Honer Fallen Firefighter On Saturday

The public is invited to honor a fallen Redding Firefighter this Saturday. Jeremy Stoke was recently promoted to Fire Prevention Inspector for the Redding Fire Department after serving the department and the people of Redding for 18 years. Inspector Stoke died at the age of 37 on Thursday July 26th while warning and evacuating residents out of the path of the quickly approaching Carr Fire. He got caught in the intensive firestorm while saving the lives of others. Stoke had been on vacation and eagerly came back to town early because he felt a need to help in the firefight. Saturday’s memorial service begins at Noon at the Redding Civic Auditorium. The department is asking people to show up at 11AM to allow time for traffic and parking. A procession of emergency vehicles will travel to the auditorium prior to the service. It’ll start at the cemetery on Continental Street and go through Downtown Redding, up Cypress to Hartnell Avenue, then north on Churn Creek Road to Highway 299 and Lake Boulevard, then south on Market to Highway 44 and the auditorium. After the public memorial a private service will be held for the family and close friends. Jeremy Stoke leaves behind a wife and two children. Donations for the stoke family can be made at any Members First Credit Union location.
