The Stone Fire burning in the Modoc National Forest has grown to 35,188 acres. The fire is currently 25% contained. Seven helicopters, including two National Guard Blackhawks, and several tankers are working the incident. Fire crews are working directly along the fires northwestern edge, and have been able to create a line on the northeastern front to Turner Creek. Containment lines are holding along the Highway 139, and 299 corridors. Several evacuation orders were lifted Thursday. Motorists are urged to expect delays in the area.
