Evacuations Lifted For Hirz Fire

All evacuation orders were rescinded Friday morning for areas near the Hirz Fire. At 10AM the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office lifted all evacuation orders. The fire is burning near Lake Shasta and has burned 22,622 acres and crews are reporting 19% containment. The Forest Service is reporting that no structures have been lost, although some telephone lines were damaged. The forest near the fire remains closed and the public is prohibited from being in the area. All national forest roads and trails and recreation area near the fire are closed. Crews will be continuing back burning operations on the western edge of the fire as conditions allow. Fire activity may be visible from the I-5 corridor and smoke is likely to drift into the Redding area. There will be a community meeting Saturday night at 6PM at the Upper Lodge at the City Park in Mt. Shasta.
