A Corning man has been sentenced in a baseball bat attack. 43-year-old Lucas Scott Smith has had ongoing problems with a neighbor. He was arrested last September when the neighbor reported that Smith was throwing rocks at him and his house. In June Smith was arrested again. He had repeatedly swung a baseball bat at the victim and made contact at least three times, including once in the back of the head and once in the eye. The victim and his girlfriend fled to the Corning Police Station and Smith was arrested and convicted for felony assault with a deadly weapon. He’s been given a 5-year-4-month state prison sentence.
