The 2 people killed last Thursday when a small plane crashed just north of Redding Municipal Airport have been identified. The pilot was identified as 69-year-old Dick D. Tak of El Dorado Hills. The passenger was identified as 64-year-old Clayton Edward Abajian of Rescue in El Dorado County. Autopsies will be scheduled. The incident remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. Fire crews and law enforcement had difficulty reaching the crash scene, which was on private property in an area of rough terrain. The accident happened around 6:30PM, as the pilot of the single engine Cessna 1-82 from the Sacramento area, apparently experienced a problem just after departing the runway.
