Man With Prior Strike Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison

Convictions have caught up to a Red Bluff thief, earning him a long prison sentence. In March of 2015 residents of a home on Red Bank Road west of Red Bluff arrived at their house to find some of their belongings, including several guns, piled up outside the front door. The inside had been ransacked and a man was running away. The homeowner took off after 44-year-old Richard Kaufman and caught him, holding him until the arrival of deputies. Last year Kaufman tried to cash a check at Solano Street Liquor in Corning that had been issued by Muse Concrete to a different business, but had been altered. In July of this year a parole search of Kaufman’s home turned up 17 Grams of Methamphetamine, 8 Grams of Heroin and evidence of sales. He also had a PG&E jacket and several tools stolen from PG&E. Kaufman has a prior strike, and has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison.
