Courthouse Ceremony Will Remember Pearl Harbor

The 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor will be remembered during a Noontime ceremony Friday in front of the Shasta County Courthouse. The Japanese surprise attack killed more than 2400 Americans, sank 18 of our ships, destroyed 188 of our airplanes and launched America into World War Two. There were once more than 90 members of the Shasta County Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, but they’ve all died. Mike Sotak passed away at the age of 94 in 2016 and Art Wynant died at his Redding home in July of last year at the age of 96. Mel Fisher moved to Southern California earlier this year and passed away at the age of 97.
