Wet Weather Allows Cal-Fire To Shift Out Of Fire Season

Starting Monday morning firefighters in the Shasta Trinity Unit of Cal-Fire will begin down-staffing and transitioning out of fire season. At 8AM Monday Cal-Fire will begin the process and will be assigning units to focus on fire prevention and fuel treatment activities. 2018 was an extremely active year for California. Statewide crews fought over 6228 fires and those fires burned over 876,225 acres, according to Cal-Fire. the states fire agency says that there were 650 more wildfires when compared to a normal year. Locally 294 fires were reported and over 442,984 acres were destroyed.
