The status of homeless people will be a hot topic at Tuesday nights Redding City Council meeting. Tents are proliferating in some areas, including just around the corner from the council chambers along the river at the end of Parkview Avenue. One reason they’ve been allowed to stay is a recent federal court ruling that basically disables illegal camping ordinances such as the one Redding has on the books. The ruling forbids enforcing illegal camping laws if there’s nowhere else to go. A change in the ordinance will be considered.
