Mental Health Help is Available for Teens

When it comes to mental health needs for youths in Shasta County, Public Health wants everyone to know “They don’t have to do it alone”. That’s the name of the public awareness campaign launched by the county’s Health and Human Services Agency to publicize available mental health resources. They include Shasta Community Health Center, Hill Country Health and Wellness, and services covered for people on Medi-Cal through Partnership Health Plan. The most commonly seen symptoms of emotional distress among young people are depression and apathy. Authorities say Shasta County has high levels of adverse childhood experiences that are well over state and national averages. The county’s suicide rate also eclipses that of the state and the nation. Services can be found by calling 225-5252 or 2-1-1.
