Coroner ID’s Victim Of Fatal Crash As Australian Native

A Go Fund Me account has quickly raised more than enough money to return the body of a young man to his native Australia after he was killed in a crash in Happy Valley over the weekend. 21-year-old Cody Joel Beaumont moved to Redding as a teenager and attended Redding Christian School. While attending Simpson University, Beaumont was the offensive leader of the men’s soccer team. He then transferred to Shasta College and competed in track and field. Sunday morning, Beaumont was driving a BMW coupe eastbound on China Gulch Road approaching Canyon Road. The CHP says he went into a sweeping right turn at a high rate of speed and lost control of the car, left the roadway and crashed into a tree. Beaumont was wearing his seatbelt, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family had been trying to raise $30,000 to bring his body home. That goal was far exceeded in less than one day.
