One Person Killed In Early Morning House Fire

One person died in a house fire in East Redding early Monday morning. Redding Fire Department was called at 2:45AM and they arrived to find the house about 50% involved in fire. There were three people in the house when the fire started and two adults, a man and a woman, made it out on their own. A third person did not escape, according to Redding Fire Battalion Chief Eric McMurtrey. He said crews were told that someone was in a corner bedroom. They tried to retrieve the person but the fire had grown too heavy in that part of the house and they had to retreat. No information is available about the deceased person. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
