K9 Helps Officers Arrest Wanted Man

A K9 put a stop to a wanted man as he fled from Redding Police Officers Friday morning. Just after 7AM an officer tried to stop a man on a bicycle for a traffic violation near Westside Road and Concord Lane in South Redding, but the man fled and abandoned the bike in front of a Concord Lane home before running away into the neighborhood, jumping over fences through multiple backyards. Other officers responded along with a CHP helicopter. Nord the K9 tracked the suspect to the rear of a Westside Road business, where he was hiding in some bushes. Upon being spotted, he ran toward an open door of the business, where employees were inside. Nord was sent after him and quickly took him down. The man is identified as 32-year-old Orion Franklin of Junction City. He had an active felony warrant out of Trinity County. After a hospital visit, Franklin was booked into jail for his warrant, as well as prowling and resisting arrest.
