Red Bluff Police Release Video Of Fatal Officer Involved Shooting

Red Bluff Police have released body camera footage from an incident last month in which a man was shot to death by a Red Bluff Police Officer. On April 14th at 12:20AM officers encountered 42-year-old Henry Lane of Red Bluff in the area of the Antelope Boulevard Bridge just east of Rio Street. He was told to drop the large stick he was carrying but he refused and kept walking away from the officers. They continued to order him to stop and fired multiple Taser shots and beanbag rounds at him but they had no apparent effect except to cause him to turn around and walk toward them with the stick raised. Red Bluff Police Corporal Stephen Harper fired a single shot from his service pistol at Lane’s chest and he fell to the ground. Eventually officers retrieved gloves and emergency medical equipment and attempted to revive Lane but he was pronounced dead on arrival at Saint Elizabeth Hospital. The investigation is not yet complete and Red Bluff Police Chief Kyle Sanders says no determination has been made about whether the use of force was appropriate. The video is on the KQMS Facebook Page. It does contain graphic violence and vulgar language.
