Suspect Arrested After Apparent Road Rage Shooting

A road rage altercation in the City of Shasta Lake Wednesday afternoon ended when a teenager shot a man in the face with a BB gun, according to the sheriff’s office. 48-year-old Brandon Clayton says he was driving on Cascade Boulevard when he saw a white sedan tailgating him, so he hit his brakes in hopes that the other driver would back off. He didn’t. The driver passed Clayton and got in front of him so he could take a turn at hitting his brakes abruptly. When Clayton turned onto Autumn Harvest Way the white car followed and got side by side with Clayton. They yelled at each other about their feelings until the other driver reportedly began shooting at Clayton with an air pistol, hitting him in the face twice. Clayton continued home and called 9-1-1 to get the BB’s removed from his face. He gave deputies a description and they reviewed surveillance footage gathered from the neighbors, leading them to a car parked nearby on Wandsworth Drive, and it’s owner, 19-year-old Jayden Gomez. While deputies were taking Gomez into custody, a 17-year-old girl who lives with Gomez showed up to yell and curse and spit at the deputies. She was arrested too.
