Wanted Man Found Hiding Under Mattress

A wanted man was captured early Tuesday morning after getting his car stuck and attracting the attention of law enforcement. 37-year-old Todd Tyan Titner apparently called his friend, 62-year-old Blake Butler, in the middle of the night asking for help getting his Ford Mustang out of the mud off Cascade Boulevard in the Riddle Road area. At 3:42 AM, the two were using Butler’s pickup to try and pull the Bustang out when Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies drove by and noticed the lights. As they approached to investigate, they saw a man with a flashlight running away through the woods. Butler explained the situation to the deputies and identified Pitner. A records check showed he had an outstanding felony warrant out of Tehama County for domestic violence, false imprisonment, threatening a police officer and resisting arrest. It also showed he was on probation and had a flag as a threat to officer safety. Hondo the K-9 was sent into the darkness to track down Pitner, and he did, locating him about 200 yards away hiding under an old mattress in the thick brush. Pitner was warned multiple times before Hondo was sent to drag him out from his hiding place. After a stop at the hospital for his dog bites, Pitner was booked into jail.
