RPD Will Conduct DUI Checkpoint Friday Evening

Working with a state grant, Redding Police will send the message that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze” as they conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday night. Collisions involving drug impaired driving have increased tremendously in recent years. The penalty for drugged driving is the same as drunk driving, with jail time and expenses that can easily exceed $10,000. Officers will screen for drunk drivers, as well as those impaired by prescription drugs and marijuana. They’ll also be checking for valid drivers licenses. The checkpoint is set for Friday evening somewhere within Redding city limits.
