PG&E Asking Customers To Update Contact Information

PG&E says they want to notify customers when they cut their power for precautionary reasons on red flag fire danger days. The trouble is, they have incomplete contact information for many of those affected customers. 150,000 people have not given the utility the information needed to make those notifications. They tried to e-mail them and now they’ll try to reach them with postcards. PG&E has 5 Million customers that may be affected, so the rate is pretty good, but there remains 880 in Shasta County, 949 in Tehama County and thousands of others who should contact PG&E so they can get notified 48 hours before a power shutoff, then again 24 hours prior, and then just before the shutoff. It can be done at or 866-743-6589.
