Flows On Klamath River Are Increasing Substantially

The Klamath River has become a torrent. The Bureau of Reclamation has begun to increase flows dramatically, in hopes of flushing out some of the blue-green algae and other toxic fish-killing organisms. The plan, which began Wednesday, has flows increasing below Iron Gate Dam from 1,325 cubic feet per second to 6,000 CFS. The process is expected to take around 72 hours, and flows should return to normal by May 1st.
