Redding Police arrested a juvenile for a knife attack that left a man fighting for his life. At 11 o’clock Wednesday night officers were sent to South Market Street between Ellis and Grange Streets. A man was lying in the roadway suffering multiple stab wounds. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police are still trying to determine the identity of the victim. Detectives closed the southbound lanes on that stretch of Market Street as they gathered evidence. Video surveillance showed the man being viciously attacked in the parking lot of a closed business. The suspect fled on foot and the victim stumbled into the southbound lanes of Market Street and collapsed. Detectives combed the area and found a 17-year-old male walking on Terrill Street whose clothing matched the attacker in the video, and he had blood stains on him. He was booked into juvenile hall for attempted murder. The motive is unclear.
