A four-day local assistance center for Fawn Fire survivors will be open Friday through Monday from 10AM to 7PM at the Shasta Lake Community Center at 4499 Main Street in Shasta Lake City. It’ll be a one-stop shop for recovery assistance, providing a central location for the unmet needs of residents whose lives and property have been affected by the fire. Survivors can find everything from counseling support to material needs. Some of the agencies present will be Shasta County Health and Human Services, Assessor’s Office, Resource Management, Housing Agency, California Department of Insurance, Franchise Tax Board, the VA., and many non-profit organizations who are eager to help. The DMV can issue duplicate photo ID.’s and the EDD can provide temporary unemployment benefits to those whose jobs were affected. There’s a lot of good information at 211norcal.org/shasta/ or by simply calling 2-1-1.
