Over $105,000 was distributed to local school groups Wednesday by the Redding East Rotary. It was every bit of the money raised by those school groups through the Sundial Riffle Raffle. 21,344 tickets were sold for the raffle, with all the money dedicated to abuse prevention and youth development programs. The grand prize was $20,000 cash or $25,000 toward the purchase of a vehicle at Taylor Motors or S.J. Denham. The grand prize winner took the cash option because they had just purchased a new car. There was also a Shasta Marina houseboat vacation and a San Francisco Giants weekend. The Sundial Riffle Raffle replaced the Ducky Derby as the Redding East Rotary’s big fundraising drive for youth, bringing in over $5 Million over the years. Rotarian Marge Beck says some schools seem to have a knack for this. Turtle Bay and mistletoe were neck-in-neck, each raising more than $17,000. Manzanita was third with more than $15,000.
