Tuesday night the Redding City Council will resume a public hearing for a downtown specific plan. The hearing has been postponed twice. An update to the plan in 2018 resulted in the many visible improvements to the Market Street area. The new plan would expand to include an area from Shasta Street to Lincoln Street and East Street to Sequoia Street. The plan would change some of the allowable uses for buildings and would loosen some building restrictions, including height, which for most of the district would be 75 feet. Some residents have concerns, mostly about increased traffic in the quiet Garden Tract. The complex formula that constitutes the plan will be discussed Tuesday evening.
