Family That Was Reported Missing Found Safe After Car Trouble

A missing mother, infant and grandmother who went missing from East Redding have been found. Morgan Panther, her 8-month-old baby and her mother are all safe and sound. After church on Sunday they went shopping in Anderson, then to a thrift store in Shingletown. Then they decided to go on a mountain drive, as they like to do, and wound up stuck on a road east of Whitmore. They were prepared to spend the night in the car, so they did, and Monday they hiked out and encountered a Shasta County road worker, who gave them a ride to the Whitmore Cal-Fire Station where Redding Police detectives met them.

An elderly woman missing from West Redding has also been found safe and sound. 81-year-old Nancy Schmidt of Mount Shasta is no longer missing.
