A Hayfork resident died Thursday morning in a strange shop accident, according to the Trinity Journal, who say the sheriff’s office had initially investigated it as a gunshot but then determined that was not the case. The man, whose name has not been released, was in his workshop pressurizing some kind of canister when it burst. When it exploded, the canister was near the man’s upper leg, and the resulting wound severed his femoral artery. An ambulance transported the man to a hospital, where he was declared dead of apparent blood loss.
