A woman from Lewiston was killed on Thursday afternoon on Highway 299 near Douglas City when her motorcycle crashed head-on into a big rig, according to the CHP. The 58-year-old woman was riding east on the highway near the junction with Highway 3. CHP investigators say the woman allowed the bike to cross over the center line while going around a right-hand curve at around 3:15PM. The bike went directly into the patch of a westbound big rig. The big driver tried to avoid a collision, but couldn’t stop in time. The rider was declared dead at the scene, and her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
