A community meeting will be held at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds Friday night at 7PM to discuss the McKinney Fire. Crews have the fire 10 percent contained, and as of Friday morning the fire has burned 59,636 acres. Rain earlier this week caused heavy debris flows causing delays for crews with heavy equipment. There is a line all around the City of Yreka. Drier weather will cause problems for firefighters Friday and over the weekend. Highway 96 remains closed. The Siskiyou Golden Fair has been canceled.

New evacuation orders were issued Thursday afternoon for the the Yeti Fire between China Peak and Highway 96. The evacuation order was issued for areas east of Happy Camp in zones SIS-1111 and SIS-1227. The area was placed under a warning earlier in the week, but on Thursday residents were told to leave due to increased fire activity. An online map can be accessed through Siskiyou County Office of Emergency Services. The fire has burned 6,436 acres with no containment. The acreage includes the 151 acre Alex Fire, which is being managed along with the Yeti.

The Smokey Fire was reported Thursday morning off off Beaver Creek Road about two miles south of the Oregon Border. The fire is burning west of the community of Hilt and has burned 34 acres with no containment.

The Shackleford Fire, west of Fort Jones near Shackleford Road and Big Meadows Creek, is 31 acres with 75% containment.

The Meamber Fire, 2 miles north of Scott River Road northwest of Fort Jones is 63 acres and 75% contained.

A number of lighting strikes have started fires in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest as well, but they’re all very small, mostly single trees.
