Flash Floods Kill Thousands Of Fish In The Klamath River

Many thousands of fish have perished in the Klamath River in a side-effect of the McKinney Fire, according to the Karuk and Yurok Tribes. Masses of dead fish of all species were found near Happy Camp late last week. Biologists with the tribes say heavy rains triggered a flash flood that washed a massive amount of debris into the river at McKinney and Humbug Creeks. That dropped oxygen levels to zero in a 10 to 20 mile stretch of the river, basically suffocating the fish.
