Community Members Will Help City Draft Updated Tree Ordinance

The City of Redding’s tree management ordinance is due for an update, and community members are needed to help write it. The last tree ordinance was drafted in 2006, and recently some residents have asked for additional regulations to protect and preserve some native tree species. The goal is to balance that preservation with sustainable community development. There will be 15 members of the Tree Management Ordinance Update Committee. Ten will be community members appointed by the city council, three will be from the planning commission and two will be from the community services advisory commission. Applications are due by next Wednesday the 17th, and the council will select the committee members at their regular meeting on September 6th. Information is available at cityofredding.org.
