The fight has gone well against the McKinney fire in Siskiyou County, now 95% contained after burning 60,400 acres. Many residents have been allowed to return, but a number of evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect as some interior islands of fuel continue to burn. At least 185 structures were destroyed, including at least 87 homes. Four people were known to have been killed by the fire, including veteran Klamath National Forest lookout Kathy Shoopman. Eleven firefighters and civilians have been injured. A local assistance center to serve fire survivors will be open at College of the Siskiyous in Yreka this Wednesday and Thursday. The Klamath National Forest closure is still in effect.

The 7,900 acre Yeti Fire Complex is 90% contained. Three firefighters were injured on that blaze

Two fires in Tehama County are contained. The Gallagher Fire started at around 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon in the area of Leaf Avenue and Rawson Road, prompting evacuations. It’s contained at 7 acres. The Anglers Fire started Saturday evening just north of Black Butte Reservoir. It’s contained at 30 acres.
