Lawsuit Alleges Poorly Maintained Equipment Sparked The McKinney Fire

A lawsuit has been filed against PacifiCorp that claims the utility’s poorly maintained equipment sparked the McKinney Fire. PacifiCorp owns the electrical utility in Siskiyou County, including a transmission line that runs over Highway 96 and McKinney Creek Road, where the fire started July 29th. Fire investigators have not yet named a cause for the McKinney Fire. The suit was filed in Sacramento County by the San Diego based law firm Singleton Schreiber on behalf of five people identified as residents and business owners who suffered losses in the fire. A monetary figure has not been determined for the pending suit.
