A few fires broke out Monday near Redding.

Just before 1 O’clock a carport at a home on Knighton Road at Meadow Lane was fully involved in flames that spread into an adjacent mobile home. Cal-Fire says it was caused by the homeowner using “gopher gasser” to kill ground squirrels and gophers under the building.

A small fire with multiple roadside spot fires off Highway 299 East and Buzzard Roost Road was quickly contained before Noon.

A fire on Papa’s Place off Bowman Road Monday night burned a structure to the ground and spread to 1-and-a-quarter acres of vegetation.
