Crews Nearing Full Containment Of Mill Fire, Mountain Fire Jumps Containment Lines On Sunday

The Mill Fire is still holding at 3,935 acres. it’s now 90% contained. 330 people remain evacuated. 92 homes are confirmed destroyed. The Mill Fire is believed to have started from a malfunction at the Roseburg Forest Products Mill in Weed September 2nd. It spread through Lincoln Heights and north to the Community of Lake Shastina. Two women in weed, ages 66 and 73, were killed, and 3 other civilians were injured. The Roseburg Forest Products Company is providing $50 Million for a community restoration fund to see to the needs of the fire survivors. This Wednesday the company will announce how people can make claims.

Additional evacuations were ordered Sunday as the Mountain Fire jumped containment lines and became established in Macks Gulch. The Mountain Fire started 9 miles southwest of the Community of Gazelle September 2nd and has burned 13,249 acres, now with 60% containment. Two structures were destroyed and 515 homes are threatened. 634 people are evacuated. 2 firefighters have been injured. Cal-Fire is still seeking help identifying the cause of the Mountain Fire, with a tip line at 842-1022.

The Coyote Fire located off Coyote Ridge a mile west of Red Rock Lakes 10 miles southwest of Dorris is holding at around 300 acres with 75% containment. All evacuation warnings have been lifted.

Many evacuations remain in effect from a fire that started Wednesday afternoon north of the Warner Mountains in Modoc County. The Barnes fire is 18% contained after burning 5,840 acres.
