RPD: Man Arrested After Robbery At South Redding Market

A man has been arrested for robbery after an incident at a South Redding store Tuesday night. Police were called at 8:30PM to the Smart Market on Westside Road. 35-year-old Gregory Hines reportedly entered the store and charged at an employee with a knife or something that looked like a knife, then threw a bar a stool at the employee while saying he needed supplies. The employee fled the store and left Hines inside. After allegedly stealing several items, Hines fled on foot to his nearby home. Officers tracked him there but he refused to come out for about two hours. RPD used a K9, a drone, and the Crisis Intervention Response Team, and eventually Hines surrendered peacefully. He was booked into jail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and resisting arrest.
