Recovery Can Begin In Weed After Devastating Mill Fire Is Declared Fully Contained

Roseburg Forest Products Company has started issuing assistance to survivors of the Mill Fire. The fire is now 100% contained after burning 3,935 acres. 92 homes were destroyed and 26 outbuildings. Two women in weed were killed. They’ve been identified as 73-year-old Marilyn Hilliard and 65-year-old Lorenza Glover. 3 other civilians were injured. The Mill Fire is believed to have started from a malfunction at the Roseburg Mill in Weed September 2nd. It spread through Lincoln Heights and north to the Community of Lake Shastina. Roseburg is providing a $50 Million community restoration fund. A claims office is set up in at the Weed Community Center. About 80 fire survivors have already gotten financial assistance to cover temporary housing, transportation, food and clothing. Information on making claims is available at weedrelieffund.com.
