A fugitive from Santa Clara who’s been called a violent sexual predator has been captured in Shingletown. 34-year-old Daniel Payne Thomas has been wanted by Santa Clara Police for more than two years for a case involving the alleged 2015 sexual assault of two juvenile victims. Thomas was tracked to Shingletown with the help of Shasta County District Attorney’s Office investigators. He was taken into custody Wednesday morning and will be extradited to Santa Clara, where he faces trial on 20 counts of committing lewd acts by force or fear with minors under the age of 14.
