Man Who Dragged Neighbor Behind Motorcyle Sentenced To Life In Prison

A Red Bluff man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for dragging his neighbor behind a motorcycle in February of last year. 62-year-old Johnny Gregory was the upstairs neighbor of 37-year-old Ray Ray Cain at a Franzel Road apartment complex. Very late one night and for reasons that have never been altogether clear, Cain beat up Gregory in his apartment, then tied a rope around his ankles and threw him downstairs before tying the rope to the back of his motorcycle. When officers arrived Cain had dragged Gregory down the street about three blocks. Officers fired at least three shots to try and stop Cain but they missed. As Cain turned the motorcycle onto South Jackson Street Gregory’s body came loose. Officers pursued Cain at high speed until he crashed on the ramp from South Main Street to Interstate 5. A few weeks ago Cain was found guilty of first degree murder and torture. On Thursday he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
