A Redding man was seriously injured after losing control of his car on a transition ramp at Interstate 5 and Highway 44 Saturday evening. At 7:35PM, the Mazda 6 driven by 22-year-old Matthew Detrant was going from Eastbound 44 to Southbound 5 at what the CHP says was an unknown high rate of speed. He lost traction and the car slid off the pavement and down an embankment. The driver’s side collided with a tree and Detrant suffered major injuries. The passenger, 22-year-old Colton Brown of Anderson, sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to Mercy Medical Center. The CHP does not suspect alcohol.
