A Saturday night crash caused major injuries to a 66-year-old Redding resident. At around 6:15PM, the unidentified driver was westbound on Placer Street behind the wheel of a Toyota Corolla and tried to turn left onto Cumberland Drive, but turned directly into the path of an eastbound Chevy Avalanche. The 42-year-old Chevy driver could not avoid broadsiding the much smaller vehicle. The RPD is still investigating.
