The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has released the names of two women killed in separate collisions two days apart and a couple of blocks away from each other.

On November 17th at 6:35PM, 28-year-old Leann Massingham was crossing Parkview Avenue near Akard Avenue next to City Hall. Police say she was wearing dark clothing and apparently was not seen in time by a 40-year-old man driving the westbound Honda Civic that hit her. Massingham died after arriving at the hospital. Police say the driver did not appear to be under the influence.

On the evening of November 19th, the 62-year-old driver of a tractor-trailer rig was backing up westbound on State Street west of Favretto when the big rig rolled over a tent, which was located south of the roadway. The woman living in the tent, 57-year-old Lori Louise Rasmussen, was pronounced dead at the scene.
