As the chase neared Downtown, police canceled the pursuit for public safety, but the driver continued as if he were being chased, driving very fast and recklessly. The alleged driver, 22-year-old Colton Smith of Orland, was apprehended by Duke the K9. Police say Smith tried to choke Duke. A passenger, 21-year-old Mariah Wooten of Red Bluff, reportedly also resisted but was arrested. Another female passenger ran and got away. Smith is on probation in Glenn County for car theft.
